The research topic of this project is ‘Freedom and Harmony: A Study on Aesthetic Thought in the Pre-Qin Confucianism’. In this study, freedom and harmony are two main perspectives to analyze how “subjectivity” was discussed in the Pre-Qin Confucianism. Therefore, a two-phase study is designed to explore the semantic analysis of the key words in the classics and classification of the conceptual levels in the Pre-Qin Confucianism. The result reveals that “subjectivity” is regarded as a position of morality, a notion of aesthetic, and an assertion of intersubjectivity.
